The GMC B series was a series of cowled chassis produced by General Motors, spanning three generations from 1966 to 2003. The B series was based on the medium-duty C/K series initially and later derived from the GMT530 architecture.
The B series was primarily used for school bus applications, but General Motors also offered the chassis for various commercial and specialty uses. The design of the B series as a cowled-chassis meant that the bodywork behind the firewall was completed by second-stage manufacturers, allowing for customization to meet specific requirements.
After 2003, GM shifted its focus to bus production derived from cutaway cabs, and the B series was discontinued. The medium-duty GMT560 chassis was used for bus applications until 2009 when it was also replaced by the light-duty GMT610 cutaway van chassis.
